BIO

Who Am I Here?
I was born in Boston and have lived in Boston and Somerville, Massachusetts, for most of my life until moving to western Massachusetts in 2000. I attended Massachusetts College of Art and was awarded a B.F.A. in painting with distinction, after previously obtaining a B.A. in English literature from the University of Massachusetts at Boston.

Highlights of my art career include receiving a Pollock-Krasner grant as well as several grants from the Mass. Cultural Council, the Mass. Foundation for the Humanities, the LEF Foundation and a residency at the Millay Colony.

I have exhibited fairly extensively in New England in solo and group exhibitions at many venues including the Art Complex Museum in Duxbury, Mass., the Saco Museum, Saco, Maine (juried by Katherine French of the Danforth Museum), a solo show at the Provincetown Art Association & Museum, a four-artist invitational at Phillips Exeter Academy, Exeter, NH, and a solo show in the Alumni Gallery at Mass. College of Art.

When I lived in Somerville, Mass., I organized several award-winning shows at the Somerville Museum that connected contemporary art with history of place , and I have also curated quite a few gallery and museum shows in other locations.

My work has been represented by several regional galleries and by national art consultants. It is included in more than 20 corporate collections of U.S. and international firms, including Fidelity Investments, Brigham & Womens Hospital, Manulife Financial, Deloitte & Touche and Goodwin, Procter LLP. I have also contributed to several books about particular forms of art such as artists' books, and in 2008 I published an online book about a collaborative project undertaken by New England Wax and International Encaustic Artists. I have served as Co-Chair of New England Wax, a professional association of artists working with encaustic, since 2008. (newenglandwax.org)
